Take the elderly seriously and honor them as repositories of wisdom and experience, especially if they are your parents (Titus 2:1-5, I Peter 3:1-7, Matthew 15:4, Ephesians 6:2-3).
Acknowledge that you share in the responsibility for your own family, including your immediate relatives and the larger church family and community (John 19: 26-27, I Timothy 5:3-10, Acts 6:1-5 James 1:27).
Don't spend more time on the basics of life than is necessary but focus instead on things of lasting value and contentment (Luke 10:41-42, Luke 12:22-34, Philippians 4:12-13).
