The Saudis take care of "FRIENDS"

From the Saudi point of view, all this is a good thing. The legendary former Saudi ambassador to Washington Prince Bandar bin Sultan was quoted in the Washington Post a few years back as saying, "If the reputation then builds that the Saudis take care of friends when they leave office, you'd be surprised how much better friends you have who are just coming into office."

I fist came across this interesting bit of information from the Blog called The Religious Policeman. It is interesting how ambassador are getting nice cushy jobs when they leave the Federal Government by the Saudis. Some people will just do anything for money.

In case you are wondering who the Religous Police are.
The religious police are widely feared in Saudi Arabia. They roam the streets enforcing dress codes and sex segregation, and ensuring prayers are performed on time. They drive in unmarked vehicles and plain clothing. They will stop you for no apparent reason and not disclose who they are.

Those who refuse to obey their orders are often beaten and sometimes put in jail.
