Daffodils For Naturalizing

Daffodils are a type of bulb you can leave in the ground to naturalize. My front yard was planted with Daffodil bulbs by a previous owner. It was a problem because you need to keep the grass un-mowed until the foliage has mature. This is not workable for a manicured lawn. However, a large drift if is a wonderful look for the edge of woods, orchards or on a hillside.

I ended up digging up as many bulbs as I could find and then transplanting to a garden bed. With daffodil one bulb becomes two and then before you know it you have ten or more, so in the future I pan to plan drifts of bulbs along the wood lot. A drift of fifty or more bulbs is a wonderful site to see even for non daffodil lovers and these drift s can be left alone for years.
